RESUMO

Nursing performance can be an evaluation indicator of hospitals. Therefore, improving it positively affects the development of nurses, patients, guardians, hospitals, and society. This descriptive correlational study was conducted to provide basic data necessary to improve nurses' work performance by examining the effects of nurses' grit on nursing job performance and mediating effects of job satisfaction and organizational commitment. The study participants were 186 nurses working at a university hospital in G province, Korea, with working experience of more than six months. Data analysis was performed using IBM SPSS Windows program version 21.0, descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation, and multiple linear regression according to the purpose of the analysis in this study. In addition, PROCESS macro was used to test the mediating effect. We examined the mediating effect of job satisfaction and organizational commitment in the relationship between nurses' grit and nursing job performance. We found that the indirect effect of job satisfaction was significant in that nurses' grit influenced nursing job performance (B = 0.11, CI = 0.05-0.21). The indirect effect of organizational commitment was also significant in influencing nurses' grit on nursing job performance (B = 0.12, CI = 0.04-0.22). These findings contribute to the improvement of nurses' nursing performance. When grit improves, efforts are made to achieve job satisfaction and maintain organizational commitment through focusing on work with steady effort and interest in the goal. Based on this study, enhancing the grit that predicts individual nurses' achievement can enhance nursing job performance. Nevertheless, interventions to improve job satisfaction and organizational commitment should be developed and implemented.

Objetivo: refletir sobre a relação entre o empreendedorismo de Enfermagem e as metas do Objetivo de Desenvolvimento Sustentável (ODS) no Saúde e Bem-Estar. Conteúdo: apresentam-se conceito e tipologias de empreendedorismo - empreendedorismo social, empreendedorismo empresarial e intraempreendedorismo ­ com exemplificação de atividades da Enfermagem, bem como as metas do objetivo 3, Saúde e Bem-Estar, com foco central em refletir acerca das potenciais contribuições da atuação empreendedora no âmbito de cada tipologia. Conclusão: a atuação empreendedora tem potencial, inclusive em interface com as metas dos objetivos de desenvolvimento sustentável 8 e 4. Porém, uma vez circunscrita no contexto dos desafios do sistema de saúde brasileiro, necessita de fomento e educação.


Objective: to reflect on the relationship between Nursing entrepreneurship and the Health and Wellness Sustainable Development Goal (SDG). Content: the concept and typologies of entrepreneurship (social entrepreneurship, business entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship) were stated and exemplified by Nursing activities, as were the objectives of SDG 3, Health and Wellness, focusing centrally on thinking about the potential for entrepreneurial action within each typology. Conclusion: entrepreneurial action has potential, including at the interface with the objectives of SDGs 8 and 4. However, circumscribed as it is by the challenges facing the Brazilian health system, entrepreneurship needs promotion and education.


Objetivo: reflexionar sobre la relación entre el emprendimiento en Enfermería y los retos del Objetivo de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS) en Salud y Bienestar. Contenido: se presentan concepto y tipologías de emprendimiento - emprendimiento social, emprendimiento empresarial e intraemprendimiento - con ejemplos de actividades de Enfermería, así como los retos del objetivo 3, Salud y Bienestar, cuyo enfoque central es reflexionar sobre las potenciales contribuciones de la acción emprendedora en el ámbito de cada tipología. Conclusión: la acción emprendedora tiene potencial, incluso en la interfaz con los retos de los objetivos de desarrollo sostenible 8 y 4. Sin embargo, una vez circunscrita en el contexto de los desafíos del sistema de salud brasileño, necesita incentivo y educación.

PURPOSE: To examine how robot-enabled focus on professional task engagement and robot-reduced nonprofessional task engagement are related to nurses' professional turnover intention. DESIGN: We adopted a two-wave study design. METHODS: We collected the first wave of data in a large hospital in Taiwan during October and November 2019 and the second wave between December 2019 and February 2020. We used the data collected from 331 nurses who participated in both waves. FINDINGS: We found that robot-enabled focus on professional task engagement is positively related to nurses' overall job satisfaction and perceived health improvement. Robot-reduced nonprofessional task engagement is positively related to nurses' perceived health improvement. Both overall job satisfaction and perceived health improvement are negatively related to nurses' professional turnover intention. CONCLUSIONS: Robots' ability to focus nurses' efforts in professional tasks may help improve nurses' health and overall job satisfaction, and by extension reduce their turnover intention. CLINICAL RELEVANCE: Nurse managers could suggest hospitals introduce robots, particularly those that can share nurses' nonprofessional workload. This, meanwhile, could focus nurses' efforts on professional task engagement.

Registered nurses (RNs) play a critical role in health care delivery. With an aging US population, health care demand is growing at an unprecedented pace. Using projected changes in population size and age, the authors developed demand and supply models to forecast the RN job shortage in each of the 50 states. Letter grades were assigned based on projected RN job shortage ratios. The number of states receiving a grade of "D" or "F" for their RN shortage ratio will increase from 5 in 2009 to 30 by 2030, for a total national deficit of 918 232 (725 619 - 1 112 112) RN jobs. There will be significant RN workforce shortages throughout the country in 2030; the western region will have the largest shortage ratio of 389 RN jobs per 100 000. Increased efforts to understand shortage dynamics are warranted.

O objeto deste estudo versa sobre as dificuldades e as facilidades para os egressos do Curso de Estomaterapia da Faculdade de Enfermagem da Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (ENF/Uerj) atuarem como especialistas no mundo do trabalho. Apresentam-se, portanto, como objetivos: 1) elaborar um questionário para coleta de dados sociodemográfico e profissional voltado para enfermeiros especialistas; 2) validar um questionário para coleta de dados sociodemográfico e profissional voltado para enfermeiros especialistas; 3) caracterizar os aspectos sociodemográficos e profissionais dos egressos do Curso de Especialização em Enfermagem em Estomaterapia da Uerj, a partir do questionário elaborado e validado anteriormente; 4) analisar a percepção dos egressos da Pós-Graduação em Enfermagem em Estomaterapia da Uerj em relação à atuação como enfermeiro especialista no mundo do trabalho; 5) discutir o processo de formação em Estomaterapia do curso de especialização da Uerj, na percepção do egresso, em termos de limitação e potencialidade para atuação no mundo do trabalho. O apoio teórico foi embasado nas discussões sobre o mundo do trabalho em saúde e em enfermagem, o modelo neoliberal e suas respectivas repercussões para o trabalho de enfermagem, aspectos históricos da formação do enfermeiro, além da abordagem a respeito da contextualização histórica da pós-graduação Lato Sensu no Brasil e da especialização em Enfermagem em Estomaterapia, com as perspectivas de inserção no mundo do trabalho. Trata-se de um estudo de natureza qualitativa, do tipo descritivo-exploratório, com um apoio quantitativo. Nesse sentido, foi utilizado o Método de Triangulação dos Dados (questionário, a entrevista semiestruturada e a análise documental). Assim, foi construído e validado um questionário para traçar o perfil socioeconômico demográfico e profissional de especialistas no mundo do trabalho. O mesmo passou pela avaliação de sete juízas e pelo pré-teste com trinta especialistas de áreas diversas da enfermagem. Após as sugestões realizadas, o instrumento já validado foi adaptado para a coleta de informações com os egressos de estomaterapia da Uerj. Traçou-se um perfil das juízas, dos especialistas e dos 43 estomaterapeutas que responderam aos questionários. Também foram entrevistados 22 egressos do curso de especialização em estomaterapia da Uerj, por meio de uma entrevista semiestruturada, através da qual se analisaram os discursos, compondo-se três categorias: 1) O sentido de ser estomaterapeuta: especificidades envolvidas na especialidade, em que se discutiu a multiplicidade de sentidos que a especialidade revela para os egressos da Uerj; 2) Atuação no mundo do trabalho: limitações e capacidades percebidas pelos egressos, onde analisou-se a percepção dos egressos no que tange à atuação no atual mundo do trabalho em saúde, destacando-se as facilidades e as dificuldades encontradas por estes participantes e 3) Formação do especialista em Estomaterapia: potencialidades e fragilidades, onde abordaram-se os temas relacionados à formação do especialista em Estomaterapia (entre 2008 a 2013), destacando-se as potencialidades e as fragilidades encontradas durante o curso e que permearam o processo de ensino-aprendizagem dos pós-graduandos, à época. Acredita-se que esta pesquisa impulsione o surgimento de outras e possa contribuir para os campos da assistência, ensino, pesquisa e extensão, a partir de seu apoio teórico e metodológico e das discussões quantitativas e qualitativas que foram realizadas, com o fito de destacar a Estomaterapia enquanto especialidade da enfermagem.


The object of this study is about the difficulties and the facilities for the graduates of the Stomatherapy Course of the Faculty of Nursing at the State University of Rio de Janeiro (Uerj/ENF) to act as experts in the world of work. Thus, the following objectives are presented: 1) to elaborate a questionnaire for demographic and professional data collection aimed at specialist nurses; 2) to validate a questionnaire for professional and demographic data collection aimed at specialist nurses; 3) to characterize sociodemographic and professional aspects of the graduates of Uerj s Specialization Course in Nursing Stomatotherapy, from the elaborated and previously validated questionnaire; 4) to analyze the perception of graduates of Nursing Post-Graduation in Stomatherapy of Uerj in relation to the performance as specialist nurse in the world of work; 5) to discuss the training process in Stomatherapy of Uerj's specialization course, in the perception of the graduated student, in terms of limitations and potential for acting in the world of work. The theoretical support was based on discussions on the world of work in health and nursing, the neoliberal model and their implications for the work of nursing, historical aspects of the training of nurses, in addition to the approach regarding the historical context Lato Sensu post-graduate in Brazil and of specialization in nursing in Stomatherapy, with the prospects of insertion in the world of work. This is a qualitative study, descriptive-exploratory type, with a quantitative support. In this sense, the Data Triangulation Method was used (questionnaire, semi-structured interview and documentary analysis). Thus, a questionnaire was constructed and validated to draw the demographic, professional and socioeconomic profile of specialists in the world of work. The same went through the evaluation of seven judges and the pre-test with thirty experts from different areas of nursing. After the suggestions made, the already validated instrument was adapted for gathering information with the graduates of stomatherapy. A profile of the judges, the specialists and the 43 stomaterapists who answered the questionnaires was drawn. Were also interviewed 22 graduates of the specialization course in stomatherapy of Uerj, by means of a semi-structured interview, through which the discourses were analyzed, composing three categories: 1) The sense of being stomaterapist: specificities involved in the specialty in which they discussed the multiplicity of meanings which the specialty reveals to the graduates of Uerj; 2) Acting in the world of work: limitations and capacities perceived by graduates, where it was examined the graduates' perception regarding the performance in the current world of work in health, highlighting the advantages and the difficulties encountered by these participants and 3) Training of the specialist in Stomatherapy: potentialities and weaknesses, where topics related to the training of the Stomatherapy specialist (between 2008 and 2013) were addressed, highlighting the potentialities and weaknesses found during the course and that permeated the teaching of post-graduate students at the time. It is believed that this research promotes the emergence of others and can contribute to the fields of assistance, teaching, research and extension, based on their theoretical and methodological support and the quantitative and qualitative discussions that were carried out, in order to value Stomatherapy as a specialty of nursing.

BACKGROUND: With the aim to enhance the senior nursing managers to be caring leaders so that they can nurture their team members to be holistic care providers, a one year program has been developed with emphasis on self-reflection and self-cultivation. PURPOSE: It aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a one-year leadership enhancement program in an acute general hospital. DESIGN & METHODS: Both quantitative and qualitative approaches were adopted. A pre and post questionnaire survey and the content analysis of self-reflective essays were conducted. RESULTS: The overall means of the servant leadership scale and the workplace wellness scale were significantly higher after the program. Both scales were also found to have a significantly medium level of positive correlation. Reflective essays showed positive feedbacks complementing the quantitative data that the program was well received and effective. CONCLUSION: A servant leadership approach may be one way for hospital management to enhance a caring environment and a more quality workforce.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to examine relationships between change fatigue, resilience, and job satisfaction among novice and seasoned hospital staff nurses. BACKGROUND: Health care is typified by change. Frequent and vast changes in acute care hospitals can take a toll on nurses and cause change fatigue, which has been largely overlooked and under-researched. DESIGN AND METHOD: A descriptive correlational design was employed with 521 hospital staff nurses in one midwestern state. Participants completed three online surveys: (a) Change Fatigue Scale, (b) Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale, and (c) McCloskey/Mueller Satisfaction Scale. FINDINGS: In a multiple regression model, job satisfaction had a statistically significant negative association with change fatigue (p < .001) and significant positive association with resilience (p < .001). A linear trend was found with hospital size (number of beds) and change fatigue (p = .001) and education level and resilience (p = .03). CONCLUSIONS: The results are consistent with job satisfaction among hospital nursing staff being negatively influenced by change fatigue and positively influenced by resilience, although reverse causal connections are also possible. Change fatigue may be increased by larger hospital size (number of beds), and resilience may be increased by higher educational level of hospital staff nurses. CLINICAL RELEVANCE: The study advanced the nursing knowledge on change fatigue, resilience, and job satisfaction of staff nurses working in acute care hospitals. Engaging in strategies aimed at preventing change fatigue in nursing staff can enhance workplace environments, job satisfaction, and retention of nurses.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: The Case/Care Manager (CCM) is a new position for in the Italian National Health Service scenario. Job satisfaction plays a key role for the CCM to engage in his work, accomplishing it in a complete. Nurses' job satisfaction is a complex construct and many different variables can influence it: personal characteristics, cultural characteristic, social characteristic, organizational characteristic, and environmental characteristic. The main aim of this study is to assess the job satisfaction in a sample of CCM and to assess if and how Social Variables (organizational climate and health) and Individual (socio-demographic variables, coping strategies, emotion regulation) relate to the CCM job satisfaction. METHODS: This study has a quantitative exploratory cross-sectional design. Participants were Nurse CCM with or without specific training who filled a battery of questionnaires : Job Satisfaction Survey (JSS) , section three of ICONAS questionnaire, section five of the Multidimensional Organizational Health Questionnaire (MOHQ), anamnestic sheet, Coping Orientation to the Problems Experienced (COPE-NVI-25), and Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ). The battery was administered online on the website of Italian Case Manager, Italian Association of Care Manager, and IPASVI Colleges. It was also distributed during the National Congress for Case Manager in Padua. RESULTS: 103 participants took part in the study. The total mean score of JSS was 117,28 (S.D.=21,12). The emotional regulation strategy most used was the "Cognitive Response", and the most used Coping strategy was "Problem Oriented". There were significant correlations between JSS and Social variables in the total score (ICONAS r=.574 p<0.01; MOHQ (positive indicators) r=.608 p<0.01; MOHQ (negative indicators) r=-.634 p <0.01) and in its subscales. There were also significant correlations between JSS subscales and Individual variables (COPE and ERQ). Participants with a specific training tend to use the emotion regulation strategy "Negative interpretation self-oriented" (U 910.500 p<0.005) and "Distraction" (U 885.000 p<0.005) more than those without specific training. The same significant difference was found in JSS pay (t=-2,48 per p<0.05) and JSS Fringe Benefits (t=-2,07 per p<0.05). DISCUSSION: The CCM job satisfaction seems to be ambivalent. It seems to be not entirely polarized on presence/absence, but rather still in a gray area. organizational climate and health influence significantly the overall perception of job satisfaction and its different areas. The most "avoiding" emotional regulation strategies, seem to negatively affect the perception of satisfaction. Emotional regulation and coping strategies related to challenges focusing and management, along with the individual perception of collaboration, positively influence satisfaction. Participants who underwent a specific CCM training, committing themselves financially and personally, perceive less job satisfaction when their role is not recognized in terms of pay. This study showed that that the main strategies used to regulate emotions are the Cognitive Response and the Social Contact. We suggest that further studies could be made to define the links between individual strategies and the presence of chronic distress and we suggest that a specific training on coping and emotion regulation may be implemented in graduation and post-graduation courses.

Acute cerebral hemorrhage accounts for approximately 25% of strokes for elderly patients. Consequently, treatments to improve prognosis should be identified. The aim of the present study was to examine the clinical values of the application of clinical nursing pathway for patients with acute cerebral hemorrhage. Between January 2013 and January 2015, 92 patients diagnosed with acute intracerebral hemorrhage were enrolled in the study based on the guidelines recommended for providing appropriate surgical or conservative treatment and the sequence of admission. The 92 patients were randomly divided into the control and observation groups. Patients in the control group underwent routine nursing mode prior to and after admission, and underwent clinical nursing path model (hierarchical partitioning prior to admission to hospital plus general professional program of nursing in hospital) was applied to the observation group. Barthel index scores for the observation group were significantly higher than that of the control group. The length of hospital stay for patients in the observation group was significantly lower while the average score for patients' satisfaction on nursing care while in hospital was significantly higher than that of the control group, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). The incidence of complications such as fever, infection, bedsore, gastrointestinal function, electrolyte disturbances, and malnutrition, in the observation group was significantly lower, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). The functional independence measure (FIM) and Fugl-Meyer scores after 6 months for the observation group were significantly higher, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). In conclusion, application of the clinical nursing pathway for patients with acute cerebral hemorrhage significantly improved the clinical effects and nursing satisfaction, reduced adverse reactions, and had a greater clinical application value.

196RESUMOO objetivo deste estudo foi descrever o processo de inserção laboral de uma enfermeira no mercado de trabalho internacional. O relato foi realizado a partir da vivência de uma profissional brasileira na Espanha, após a validação de seu título no país de destino. A facilidade atual de encurtar distâncias e transpor fronteiras facilita o intercâmbio de experiências entre estudantes e profissionais de países diferentes. A troca de conhecimentos entre distintas realidades é uma das formas de promover o desenvolvimento da Enfermagem no mundo. Algumas características são altamente desejáveis ao perfil do profissional que almeja uma experiência internacional. O artigo enfatiza os fatores que facilitaram ou dificultaram a inserção neste mercado, destacando o valor da vivência internacional no mundo globalizado


El objetivo de este estudio fue describir el proceso de inserción laboral de una enfermera al mercado de trabajo internacional. El relato fue realizado a partir de las vivencias de una profesional brasileña en España, después de la convalidación de su título en el país de destino. La actual facilidad de acortar distancias y cruzar forteras facilita el intercambio de experiencias entre estudiantes y profesionales de diferentes paises. El intercambio de conocimientos entre las distintas realidades es una de las formas de promover el desarrollo de la Enfermería en el mundo. Algunas características son altamente desea-bles al perfíl del profesional que desea una experiencia internacional. El presente artículo enfatiza los factores que facilitaron o dificultaron la inserción en este mercado laboral, destacando el valor de la vivencia internacional en el mundo globalizado.


This study aimed to describe the labor incorporation process of a nurse in the international labor market. The report was based on the experience of a Brazilian professional in Spain, after validation of her title at the destination country. The current facility to shorten distances and cross borders facilitates the exchange of experiences between students and professionals from different countries. The exchange of knowledge between different realities is one of the ways to promote the development of nursing in the world. Some features are highly desirable in the profile of the professional who wants an international experience. The article emphasizes the factors that facilitated or hindered the inclusion in this market, highlighting the value of the international experience in the globalized world

OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between nursing job satisfaction and healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) in adult critical care. METHODS: Multilevel modelling was used to examine the relationship between nursing job satisfaction and two HAIs, ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) and central-line associated bloodstream infections (CLABSI). RESULTS: Units with nurses that reported satisfaction with organisational policies were associated with a 6.08 decrease in VAP (p=0.013) and units with nurses reporting favourable perception of task requirements were associated with a 7.02 decrease in VAP (.014). Positive perception of organisational policies was associated with lower rates of CLABSI (p=0.002). Unexpected findings include a positive relationship between perception of pay and autonomy and CLABSI as well as perception of interactions and VAP. Units with a higher proportion of Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certified nurses were associated with lower rates of both CLABSI (p<0.001) and VAP (p=0.037). CONCLUSION: This study provides preliminary evidence to support the relationship between nursing job satisfaction and HAIs in critical care, although some relationships were counterintuitive. A secondary finding included significant relationships between CCRN certified nurses and HAIs.

ObjectiveTo explore the effect of empathy nursing on depressive emotion and life function in depressive patients and to improve treatment and nurse effect.MethodSixties depressive inpatients treated with antidepressive drugs were randomly assigned to receive general nursing and health education ( experimental group 31 ) and empathy nursing (control group 29).Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD),Nurses'observation scale for inpatient evaluation (NOSIE) and the hospital nursing work satisfaction questionnaire were used before and after intervention to evaluate the clinical and nursing effects of two groups.ResultsAfter interventions,the total score of HAMD was ( 16.7 ± 3.2) in experimental group and (20.2 ± 3.6) in control group,with significant difference between two groups.The social ability factor of score of NOSIE was (9.78 ± 2.13 ) in experimental group and ( 13.32 ± 3.22) in control group,and the scores of 3 other factors of NOSIE in experimental group was obviously lower than that in control group.The score ( 121.37 ± 11.25 ) of nursing work satisfaction in experimental group was obviously higher than that( 113.26 ± 9.72) in control group ( t =2.98).ConclusionsEmpathy nursing can improve depressive emotion and life function of patients with depression,and improve nursing work satisfaction.

Objetivo: El objetivo del estudio, cuantitativo, exploratorio, transversal, fue caracterizar el Riesgo Familiar Total y Salud Familiar General de las familias de mujeres en lactancia materna del Hospital de primer Nivel Villamaría (Caldas) durante el año 2011. Materiales y métodos: La muestra n=76 elegida aleatoriamente, desde los registros almacenados de la consulta externa, se calculó con un error admisible de 2 unidades de registro, y con un margen de confianza del 95 por ciento. Cada familia se valoró con los dos instrumentos Riesgo Familiar Total RFT 5-33 y Salud Familiar General ISF: GEN 21 (Amaya 2004). Resultados: Predominaron las familias extensas con un promedio de 4.83 personas. Por el nivel de Riesgo Familiar Total se ubicó a 62 por ciento de las familias como amenazadas, en bajo riesgo el 36 por ciento, y en alto riesgo sólo 3 por ciento. En cuanto a la Salud Familiar General, 83 por ciento fueron familias muy saludables y 17 por ciento familias saludables Discusión y conclusiones: En conclusión el riesgo de las familias amerita trabajo para enfermería y equipos interdisciplinarios para mejorar aspectos relacionados especialmente con las condiciones psicoafectivas en familias amenazadas y los servicios y prácticas en salud en familias de alto riesgo. Los resultados de Salud Familiar General permiten reconocer el potencial de la salud de las familias estudiadas. La valoración con los dos instrumentos direcciona las acciones como base para construir el cuidado específico en promoción de la salud, prevención de la enfermedad, rehabilitación y control de la salud, relacionadas con las dimensiones y categorías estudiadas.


OBJECTIVE: The objective reflecting within the quantitative, transversal and explorative study was the total family risk and general health characterization into nursing women's families, inside of a first level hospital. Placed in Villa Maria Caldas during the year 2011. METHOD AND MATERIALS: The chosen randomly sample n=76 from the storage register inside outpatient consultation, calculating an allowable mistake over 2 register units, And with a trustworthy range between 95%. Each family was testing with both risk instruments Total Family Risk RTF 5- 33 and General family health ISF: 21 GENE. (Amaya, 2004). RESULTS: The large families was the predominate group of them with a coverage about 4.83 people. By total family risks level, these kinds of families were ubicating within the 62% over these familiar group. The other 36% were threading inside the lower risk level, only 3% of them were classifying like families in higher risk. In as much as GENERAL FAMILIAR HEALTH, the families were finding really healthy inside an 83% of them. And healthy families 17% of them. ARGUMENT AND CONCLUSIONS: In conclusion the risks of the families have virtues of job inside nursing and disciplinary networks groups with the finality of improve aspects with a special relationship about the phycoaffective setting over the threatened families, and onto the health servicing handle with high risk family levels. The thrown results knowing, surrounded by General Familiar's health allowed it to spot the whole potential health over the investigation's families. The judgment within the two ways of proof, let makes a pathway, inside the procedures, like a base of making an explicit. Healthing care support, and also the illness caring link. As well as rehabilitation and health manage, in concordance with the categories and ratio into the investigation category.

Working at the night shift interferes with the worker personally, socially, and with family matters. The objective of the following qualitative research, conducted in a university hospital in the state of Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil), was to identify the pros and cons faced by 42 nurses in performing nocturnal work. The data collection was made from March to April 2008 through semi-structured interview. The transcription and theme analysis on the data originated pros such as interaction among nursing team and more time availability for personal life; as well as categories for cons, like lack of supporting services and social/work isolation, among others. It is suggested that managers promote collective activities for reflection, stimulating workers to identify benefits and difficulties in the working process, favoring work satisfaction.


O trabalho no período noturno interfere na esfera pessoal, social e familiar do trabalhador. O objetivo desta pesquisa qualitativa, que foi realizada em um hospital universitário do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul (Brasil), foi identificar as facilidades e dificuldades enfrentadas por 42 enfermeiros na realização do trabalho noturno. A coleta dos dados foi realizada no período de março a abril de 2008 por meio de uma entrevista semi-estruturada. A transcrição e análise temática dos dados originaram categorias para facilidades, como a interação entre a equipe de enfermagem e a maior disponibilidade de tempo para a vida particular; e categorias para dificuldades, como a carência dos serviços de apoio e o isolamento social e no trabalho dentre outras. Sugere-se que os gestores promovam momentos coletivos de reflexão, para estimular os trabalhadores a identificar benefícios e dificuldades do processo de trabalho, o que poderá favorecer a satisfação no trabalho.


El trabajo en el período nocturno interfiere en la esfera personal, social y familiar del trabajador. El objetivo de esta investigación cualitativa, que se llevó a cabo en un hospital universitario de la provincia del Rio Grande do Sul (Brasil), fue identificar las facilidades y dificultades enfrentadas por 42 enfermeros en la realización del trabajo nocturno. La recolección de los datos fue realizada en el periodo de marzo a abril del 2008 por medio de una entrevista semiestructurada. La transcripción y el análisis temático de los datos originaron categorías para facilidades, como la interacción entre el equipo de enfermería y mayor disponibilidad de tiempo para la vida privada; y categorías para dificultades, como la carencia de los servicios de apoyo y el aislamiento social y en el trabajo, entre otras. Se sugiere que los gestores promuevan momentos colectivos de reflexión, para estimular a los trabajadores a identificar beneficios y dificultades del proceso laboral, lo que podrá favorecer la satisfacción en el trabajo.

Este estudo, de caráter exploratório, objetivou verificar a atuação das enfermeiras obstétricas no que se refere à assistência ao parto e analisar sua percepção ante a profissão. Foram entrevistadas 39 enfermeiras que atuavam no centro obstétrico de maternidades da cidade de São Paulo sendo que destas, 51,2% responderam realizar o parto esporadicamente, 46,3% como rotina e 7,7% mencionaram insatisfação quanto à profissão. Estes resultados permitem repensar sobre melhores condições de trabalho e sobre investimento na formação a fim de que possamos resgatar o parto com um acontecimento fisiológico e humanizado


This exploratory study examined the work of obstetric nurses in delivery and analyzed their understanding of their profession. Thirty-nine nurses who worked in obstetric centers of maternity wards in the city of São Paulo were interviewed. Of these, 51,2% said they did deliveries sporadically, 46,3% routinely and 7,7% said they were dissatisfied with their profession. These results make it possible to discuss better working conditions and the investment in training so that we can recover delivery as a physiological and humanized event


Este estudio, de carácter exploratorio, tuvo como objeto observar la actuación de las enfermeras obstétricas en la atención al parto y analizar su percepción ante la profesión. Se entrevistaron 39 enfermeras que actuaban en el centro obstétrico de maternidades de la ciudad de Sao Paulo. El 51,2% contestó que realiza partos de vez en cuando, el 46,3% siempre y el 7,7% se manifestó insatisfecho con la profesión. Estos resultados permiten repensar en las condiciones de trabajo y en su formación profesional, con la finalidad de rescatar el parto como un hecho fisiológico y humanizado

RESUMO

El seguimiento de los egresados de la Escuela Nacional de Enfermería y Obstetricia (ENEO) de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) llevado a cabo desde 1991, ha permitido obtener una visión objetiva de las condiciones y oportunidades que éstos han experimentado en el campo laboral. A partir de esa fecha, año con año, se entrevista a una muestra de las generaciones salientes a tres años de la terminación de sus estudios. En este informe se analizan aspectos tales como: titulación y ocupación de un espacio en el mercado laboral, inserción laboral y categorías de contratación, áreas o servicios de asignación laboral, actividades que consumen la mayor parte de los tiempos de trabajo, factores que obstaculizan el desempeño laboral y satisfacción laboral experimentada. La revisión de estos aspectos mencionados en las generaciones entrevistadas (1998-2000) permito visualizar una perspectiva más alentadora en el ámbito laboral de la enfermera al compararla con los resultados alcanzados en las generaciones a las que se hizo seguimiento con anterioridad.


This study presents an analysis of work situations and job opportunities available to graduates of the Obstetrics National School of Nursing and Obstetrics UNAM in Mexico City since 1991. That same year the school of nursing institutionalized a program to follow up a sample of students who completed coursework for their degree three years afterwards. Some of the more specific aspects that are analized in this study include if degree's were actually obtained, ability to find initial employment, present employment status, job descriptions, type of nursing practiced and in what type of setting, deterrents from obtaining optimal work perfomance and job satisfaction. The results of this most recent analysis based on interviews of graduates from 1998 and 2000 were greatly improved than those analyzed from previous years.
